At Central Iowa Orthodontics we recognize that in order to achieve the level of excellence our patients and referring dentists have come to expect, we must work as a team. From the front desk to the clinical assistants at chairside to our office managers and lab technicians behind the scene, each member of the staff at Central Iowa Orthodontics is important and we are proud of the experience, professionalism, and devotion to patient care they demonstrate. We are constantly working to improve the knowledge and skills of our staff through continuing education and in-office training.
Front Desk
The ladies at the front desk are usually the first members of our team you will meet. They answer the phone, greet and check in patients for their appointments, schedule new appointments and help with insurance and patient forms. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them. There are times of the day when they become especially busy multi-tasking their different responsibilities, but they are always happy to help you in any way they can.
Orthodontic Assistants
In our treatment area you will find many smiling faces that belong to our superbly skilled clinical assistants. Combined, our assistants offer literally hundreds of years of experience in clinical orthodontics. Several of them have worked with us for over 20 years, although their youthful appearance makes that difficult to believe! Their role is to help the orthodontist carry out the many different tasks related to orthodontic treatment including taking impressions, photographs and x-rays and in inserting and removing orthodontic archrwires. They also assist the orthodontist in placing orthodontic brackets and bands. As part of their role in the clinical care of our patients, our assistants are knowledgeable regarding oral hygiene and caring for orthodontic appliances and are there to be a source of information for patients and parents. Our friendly assistants are pleased to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have while in the clinical treatment area of our office.
Laboratory Technicians
We are blessed to have experienced and highly skilled lab technicians that do the important work of creating beautiful plaster models as part of our orthodontic records and of fabricating the excellent retainers required to maintain orthodontic correction following treatment with braces or Invisalign®. Because our lab is "in house" we are able to completely personalize each retainer to fit the needs of our patients. Also, we are able to fabricate our retainers much faster than if they were sent out to a commercial lab.
Insurance Specialist
We have a full-time team member whose work is dedicated to helping our patients navigate the maze that is orthodontic/dental insurance. She helps us to file insurance claims, researches to find out exactly what your insurance coverage for orthodontics is and generally helps with all of the potential issues you may have with regard to insurance. She is always willing and able to help in any way she can.
Transcriptionist
Communication is a key element to successful orthodontic treatment. At Central Iowa Orthodontics we spend a significant amount of time and energy in doing our best to make sure that all of those involved in the care of our patients are informed. This includes patients, parents/guardians, the general dentist as well as any dental specialists or medical specialists who may be involved. Our transcriptionist helps turn our dictation into formal letters and other written communication. She helps keep this vital flow of information going and she is an important member of our team.
Office Managers
Our office managers are the ones who help to oversee the day-to-day operations of our office. They have extensive knowledge in the field of orthodontics and great skill in handling the many details that make a practice like ours successful. You will generally work with one of our office managers to review options for financial arrangements to meet your specific situation. They work hard to help us make orthodontic treatment affordable for all who are interested in improving their smile.
