Dr. Cameron Rasool was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa. Following his graduation from Valley High School, he attended the University of Iowa on an academic scholarship, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in psychology and a Doctorate in Dental Sciences (DDS). He furthered his dental training at Saint Louis University’s Center for Advanced Dental Education where he received a Master of Science (MS) in orthodontics.
Dr. Rasool received cutting-edge training at Saint Louis University and is proficient in the latest technological advances in orthodontics, including mini-screw implants, soft-tissue lasers, cone-beam CT, and indirect bonding. He also has training in various appliance systems, such as Invisalign and clear brackets.
Dr. Rasool is a life-long learner and regularly attends advanced education courses. He looks forward to learning new techniques as they are introduced to orthodontics.
During his dental and orthodontic training, Dr. Rasool took on various leadership, research, and teaching roles. He was the vice president of the Iowa chapter of the American Student Dental Association in dental school, and president and chief resident of his orthodontic class. He received a National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research grant from the National Institute of Health to conduct research on dietary behaviors.
For his master’s thesis, Dr. Rasool worked with world-renowned researcher, Dr. Lysle Johnston, Jr., to study smile aesthetics as it pertains to aging. He also completed a teaching fellowship at Southern Illinois University and volunteered at Boys and Girls Club of America and Give Kids a Smile.
For his hard work and involvement in various dental activities, Dr. Rasool has earned numerous awards and recognition, including the Dreiling-Marshall Award in orthodontics, which is given to the top resident of the class. He also was selected to become a member of the honorary dental fraternity Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honor that is bestowed upon the top dental graduates each year. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Dean’s Leadership Award for two consecutive years.
In his free time, Dr. Rasool enjoys traveling, reading, being outdoors, and playing sports. He is excited to become a part of the Central Iowa Orthodontics team, and to continue the proud tradition of excellence and patient care that has been established by Dr. Rovner, Dr. Conrad, and Dr. Karras.
